Indonesian President Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Made a State Visit to Brunei Darussalam

On 24-25 February 2011, Indonesian President Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono made a State Visit to Brunei Darussalam.

The Indonesian President was accompanied by the First Lady, Madame Hajah Ani Bambang Yudhoyono, and several Indonesian Cabinet Ministers. The visit of Presiden Yudhoyono to Brunei Darussalam was for the second time. The first one was carried out in February 2006.

The Indonesian President and his entourage arrived at Brunei International Airport, Bandar Seri Begawan, on 24 February 2011 at 12.45, and were greeted by the Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam as Minister-in-Attendance, the Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Abubakar Apong, and his wife, the Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam and Mrs. Nani Handriyo before proceeded to the Empire Hotel and Country Club, where the Indonesian first couple stayed in Brunei Darussalam.
 
The President and his entourage arrived at the Empire Hotel and Country Club and were welcomed by the representative of Nurul Iman Palace, Management of the Empire Hotel and Country, staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bandar Seri Begawan along with their spouses, and representatives of the Indonesian community in Brunei Darussalam.
 
Later, the Indonesian President and the First Lady were visited by Brunei Darussalam’s Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah and wife who escorted them on the way from the hotel to Nurul Iman Palace to attend the state welcoming ceremony and paid a courtesy call to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha. 
 
On the occasion of this State Visit of President Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Brunei Darussalam, a bilateral meeting between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam took place and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), i.e. the MoU between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources of the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Agricultural Cooperation, by His Excellency Ir. H. Suswono, MMA, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources of Brunei Darussalam, and one letter of intent (LoI) i.e. the Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources of Brunei Darussalam on Marine and Fisheries Cooperation, by His Excellency Dr. R.M. Marty M. Natalegawa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources of Brunei Darussalam.
 
Simultaneously at the time the President of the Republic of Indonesia carried out the bilateral talks, Madame Hajah Ani Bambang Yudhoyono visited Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Exhibition Gallery, a museum which collected 300 copies of hand-written Al Qurans, 200 walking sticks, and 60 tasbih as well as 700 Islamic manuscripts which were a collection of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, with their uniqueness and beauties.
 
On her visit to the Museum, the Indonesian First Lady was accompanied by the wife of the Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam, Mrs. Sranya Natalegawa, and Mrs. Nani Handriyo as well as executive members of the Ladies Association of the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. 
 
In the evening, the Indonesian President and the First Lady were invited to a State Banquet hosted by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Royal Banquet Hall of Nurul Iman Palace.
 
On the next morning of 25 February 2011 the Indonesian President was invited by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to carry out a morning walk at Tasek Lama Recreation Park, Bandar Seri Begawan. Upon conclusion of the morning walk, the Indonesian President planted a tree together with His Majesty.

The Indonesian government has ensured that people in the age group of over 18 years will receive the COVID-19 vaccine to expand vaccination coverage to 70 percent across Indonesia.
