Loji Gandrung, Surakarta Mayor’s official residence, is now empty as Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has packed all his belongings and is heading to Jakarta, where he will begin his term as Governor within a few days.

A truck carrying Jokowi’s personal belongings was seen in front of Loji Gandrung on Saturday. The truck was scheduled to leave for Jakarta on Saturday evening, while Jokowi and his wife Iriana would take a plane.

Jokowi has lived in the house since he was chosen as Surakarta mayor seven years ago. Surakarta mayor’s assistant Onggo said that Jokowi only brought few of his favorite pieces furniture, including wooden bed frame, a small cabinet and several working tables.

The furniture will be sent to Jokowi’s new official residence on Jl Taman Suropati No. 7 in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Jokowi said that he did not buy new stuff for his new residence. “I always feel comfortable sleeping in my old bed frame,” he said as quoted by Antara news wire.

Jokowi and his partner Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama will be sworn in as governor and deputy governor on Monday, Oct. 15. The pair secured the Jakarta’s top positions after defeating incumbent Fauzi Bowo and his running mate Nachrowi Ramli during the gubernatorial runoff on Sept. 20.
